A strikingly modern building with large windows is the first thing that catches the eye at De Kristalijn, next to the Stiemerheide golf hotel in Genk.

The ample light and green surroundings create a fresh setting. In the middle of the restaurant is a large open kitchen like a cooking theatre. This creates a lot of liveliness, which is reinforced by the many customers who come here for lunch and dinner with visible pleasure.

Chef Koen Somers has been awarded a Michelin star for years running. He provides some oriental influences in his classically trained cuisine, as with the rouget barbet with chorizo and paprika, and also with the Wagyu with paksoy and aubergine. The spices are abundant and create a broad flavour experience.

The maitre-sommerlier creates successful and often surprising wine-food combinations, with so-called “vin nature” also being used regularly.
