Au Coin des Bons Enfants, popularly known as the Coin, has had many functions. From orphanage to residence, from café to restaurant. As Limburg’s first starred restaurant, Au Coin even grew to become one of the baking mats for classic French cuisine in Limburg and far beyond.
Since spring 2020, a new, fresh wind has been blowing through the historic building on the corner of Maastricht’s Ezelmarkt. Timo Reichelt and Lino de Vrede are taking over Au Coin des Bons Enfants with the aim of bringing the restaurant back to the very highest level. To achieve that, they are modernising where necessary, but above all they are preserving the authentic elements to preserve the soul of the now listed building.
This golden combination of classic and modern is also reflected in the kitchen, where Timo Reichelt seamlessly combines influences from classic French cuisine with his own German roots and Mediterranean touches. Turbot with artichoke, mango and smoky beurre blanc as an absolute favourite.
Patron sommelier Lino de Vrede has a penchant for the great wines from renowned French wine regions, although he also likes to make a trip to Germany and Italy.
Behind the restaurant, far away from the hustle and bustle of Maastricht city centre and hidden under vines, is Au Coin des Bons Enfants’ intimate terrace, where you can enjoy lunch or dinner when the weather is nice.
