With the opening of the new Van Oys Maastricht Retreat in Eijsden, the wider Euregio region welcomes a significant new addition to its high-end hospitality offering. While the area is home to many hotels, accommodations in the exclusive 5-star superior category remain rare.
At the heart of the retreat lies Kasteel Oost, a beautifully restored castle in the village of Oost-Maarland near Eijsden. Lovingly brought back to its original grandeur, the castle now houses a selection of luxurious rooms and suites, as well as Restaurant Maes – cuisine du terroir, helmed by renowned chef Pascal Jalhay.
Directly across from the castle, a historic farmhouse has also been fully renovated and expanded. This building hosts additional luxury rooms and serves as the main entrance to the hotel, with its welcoming lobby. It is also home to Restaurant Create, a fine dining experience led by acclaimed chef Guido Braeken and his talented team.
To the rear of the farmhouse, a large modern extension has been constructed. This new wing houses the majority of the hotel rooms, along with elegant event and meeting spaces, a future wellness center, and an atmospheric wine cellar.
