The kitchen is located in a half-timbered house from 1593, the restaurant itself in the impressive historical setting of the Gruizenkerk church in Sittard. A special entourage for a special (lunch or) dinner.
G7, the business of host Danny Meijers and chef Rik Opstals, opened its doors in 2018. What started with an accessible but sophisticated concept grew into a popular address for fine dining in Sittard in the few years that followed.
In the church, which feels like a piece between heaven and earth, G7’s young and motivated team maintains a formula that focuses on sustainable enjoyment. For instance, they work as much as possible with ingredients from their own vegetable and herb garden (located just a stone’s throw from the restaurant) or direct surroundings of Sittard. These ingredients are expertly transformed into heavenly dishes in the kitchen in the half-timbered house – served in traditional or vegetarian form.
G7 also keeps it as local as possible for the wines: three quarters of the wines come from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria. At G7, sustainability is made irresistibly fun.
