David Lynch,Someone is in my House
Location BonnefantenmuseumUntil 28.04.2019
The Bonnefantenmuseum presents the extensive retrospective Someone is in my House, by the American artist David Lynch. Although David Lynch is undoubtedly a pivotal figure in the international film and TV world, his work as a visual artist is not nearly as well-known. This is strange, to say the least, as Lynch has always stressed that he sees himself primarily as a visual artist; a visual artist who came into contact with the medium of film during his studies at the art academy by chance. This encounter formed the basis for his career as film director. Alongside his work as a director, Lynch has always remained active as a visual artist and in recent decades has created a vast oeuvre of paintings, drawings, lithos, photos, lamp sculptures, music and installations.

Location Theater aan het Vrijthof15.03.2019 – 08:00 PMThe Flemish-Swiss Cindy Van Acker opens this exciting double bill with her Elements 1 - Room, a dance performance that revolves around the idea of limitations. It is the first in a series of pieces that Van Acker wants to dedicate to the geometric principles of the Greek mathemati-cian Euclid. The prominent Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau was inspired for his piece by surrealist Luis Buñuel and his predilection for dreams, social criticism and the traditional Spanish folk drum.

MUSIC & OPERA
Sophiko Simsive, PianoLocation Theater aan het Vrijthof 14.03.2019 – 08:30 PMSophiko Simsive, now living in the Netherlands, grew up in Georgia with folk music and the meditative sounds of Gia Kantsjeli, the Arvo Pärt of her native country. She was the youngest student ever at the Sweelinck Conservatory, won the Prinses Christina concours, and was in 2010 laureate of Dutch Classical Talent. Beethovens op.35, like his Third, homonymous Symphony, the theme of the heroic and tortured Promethues varies. Chopin composed the Preludes during a rainy winter in Mallorca, disastrous for his already staggering health. And Prokofjecs Sonate, from the revolution year 1917, is the hommage to a friend that commited suicide.
Cora Burggraaf, Pieter Wispelwey e.a.Tunes and Dances
Location Theater aan het Vrijthof17.03.2019 – 3:30 PMThe universal character of folk lyrics and folk music hides in the direct and authentic wording of the com-munal emotions. Many composers feel called to guard the tradition of folk music and bring new life to it by artistically arranging them.
